Mrs. Mary Louise Clough was born in Lyme, N.H., March 4th, 1840. She was married in 1860 to Daniel Franklin and moved to Minnesota in 1865.
Mr Franklin died of pneumonia in 1877.
In 1879, Mary found love again and was married to Henry Howard, a long time neighbor.

She was the mother of seven chldren, four of whom are living. They Mrs. Herman Lowell of Spencer Brook, Mrs. John Haeg of Princeton, and Miss Francese Franklyn and T.H. Howard who reside at home. Mrs. Howard was a sister of ex-Gov. D.M. Clough. During her long residence in Wyanett and Spencer Brook she endeared herself to a host of friends by her many acts of kindness and motherly interest she took in the welfare of her friends at all times. During her long illness that confined her to her bed for seven months, all of which time she was unable to help herself, she bore her pain and suffering with Christian fortitude and patience and passed away calmly and peacefully.
