U.S. Congressman. He graduated from the law department of Indiana University in 1904, was admitted to the bar and commenced to practice law in Attica, Indiana. He was City Attorney of Attica, (1910-14) and also practiced at a private law firm. In 1917, he was elected as a Republican to the Sixty-fifth Congress and to the next seven succeeding Congresses, serving until 1933. An unsuccessful candidate for reelection, he resumed the practice of law and served as an attorney in the General Accounting Office Washington, D.C., until his death at age 56.
