US Congressman, US Senator, Continental Congressman. Elected to represent New Hampshire as At-Large in the United States House of Representatives, serving from 1789 to 1793. Also served as a Delegate to the Continental Congress from New Hampshire in 1780, Chief Justice of the New Hampshire State Supreme Court from 1782 to 1790, Delegate to the New Hampshire State Constitutional Convention in 1788, and 1791, and United States Senator from New Hampshire from 1793 to 1801.
