Presidential Cabinet Secretary. Born in Augusta, New York, he graduated from Hamilton College in 1861. He studied law, was admitted to the bar at Peru, Indiana in 1865 and also held the office of county school examiner. For many years he was the legal council for General Benjamin Harrison and in 1889, Harrison as US President appointed Miller Attorney General. He served in capacity as a Presidential Cabinet member for the duration of Harrison's term until 1893. He died at age 76 in Indianapolis, Indiana.
