U.S. Senator. He graduated from Hamilton College New York, in 1895; attended the University of Leipzig Germany and graduated from the medical department of Clark University Massachusetts, in 1897. He then taught natural science, at the Jacob Tome Institute Maryland, graduated from the College of Physicians and Surgeons, in 1903 and commenced the practice of medicine in Baltimore, Maryland. Entering politics, he was a member of the Maryland State Senate, (1906-08) and secretary to the medical and surgical faculty of Maryland, (1916-17). In 1916, he was elected as a Republican to the United States Senate, serving until 1923. An unsuccessful candidate for reelection, he was President of the Republic International Corporation and resumed the practice of medicine until his death at age 65.
