U.S. Congressman. Elected as a Republican to represent Kentucky's 9th District in the United States House of Representatives, he served from 1949 to 1955. After graduating from the University of Kentucky in 1912, he completed his law studies at the University of Michigan in 1916. He practiced law as an attorney in Barbourville, Kentucky and was elected as the Knox County Attorney in 1918, and served until 1922. He resumed his personal practice and established a reputation as a prominent attorney. He was elected unopposed to the United States Congress in 1948 and reelected twice. He was also a delegate to the Republican National Convention in 1952. Golden represented Kentucky's 8th District during his third term when the congressional districts of Kentucky were realigned after 1950. He was not a candidate for renomination in 1954, and returned to Knox County to resume his law profession.
