Valentine Sevier’s mother was Elizabeth A. Hunter Sevier (1795–1869), and his wife was Ann J. Conway Sevier (born about 1828, married about 1848). Ann J. Conway was the daughter of James Sevier Conway (1798 - 1855), the first Governor of Arkansas.

Valentine Sevier’s 1850 U. S. Census (LaGrange, Lafayette County, Arkansas) lists him as age 26 and has him in the household of the former Governor, James S. Conway (age 53). Other household members were Mary Conway (age 39), Martha Conway (age 20), Susan Conway (age 3), and Elias Conway (age 4/12). Mary was James Conway’s wife and Martha, Susan, and Elias were three of his children. Valentine Sevier’s wife, Ann J. Sevier (age22), is listed in the 1850 U. S. Census for Roane, Lafayette County, Arkansas, in a large household that may be an inn.

Valentine and Ann Jane Nancy Conway Sevier had at least three children: Frances B. Sevier (about 1849 - ?), James Alexander Sevier (1851 - 1855), and [unknown forename] Sevier (1853 - 1856). Following Valentine’s death in 1854, his wife remarried around 1857 to John Sugars Turner. She also began using Nancy J. as her preferred forenames.
