ROCK ISLAND -- Irene Mae Ludin, Rock Island, died Friday, Feb. 18, 2000, at Davenport Lutheran Home. Services will be 10:30 a.m. Monday at St. Joseph Catholic Church, Rock Island. The Rev. Lawrence Morlan will officiate. Burial will be Greenview Memorial Gardens, East Moline. Visitation is 2-5 p.m. Sunday at Hodgson Funeral Home Ltd., Rock Island, with a wake service at 4:30 p.m. She was employed as a waitress at Swan-Bahnsen, formerly Black Hawk Drugs, Rock Island, and McPikes, Rock Island. Irene was a volunteer at Knights of Columbus, Rock Island; and Project NOW. Irene Wolverton was born Sept. 21, 1909, in Durango, Colo., to Jake and Amelia (Muller) Wolverton. She married Edward J. Ludin on May 16, 1929, in Durango. He preceded her in death. She was a former member of Immanuel Lutheran Church, Rock Island. She enjoyed family gatherings and her grandchildren and great- and great-great-grandchildren. She liked to vacation with family and friends. Irene was a very caring individual, helping many people. Bingo was her game, and purple was her color. She enjoyed crafts, crocheting, macramé and bowling. Memorials may be made to Davenport Lutheran Home or Allouez Council, Knights of Columbus, Rock Island. Survivors include daughters, Sandra (Mrs. Thomas) Cameron, Davenport, and Debbie (Mrs. Jim) Drish, Milan, Ill.; sons, Raymond, and spouse, LaeAudrey, Davenport, and Ronnie Ludin, Davenport; a daughter-in-law, Joan Ludin, Colona, Ill.; 23 grandchildren; 42 great-grandchildren; six great-great-grandchildren; her loving sister, Dorothy Horton, Silvis, Ill.; and a special friend, Albert Murray. She also was preceded in death by a son, Edwin Ludin Jr., in 1995; three grandchildren; a great-grandchild; a brother, William Wolverton; and a sister, Gladys Justus. She will be greatly missed by everyone.
