Dennis Athanase Duvall was born in Gallipolis, Turkey.(His request for passport in 1903 says his name is Tommis Vorm alias Dennis Duval.) On the passport form he said he wanted to visit his parents in Constantinople, Turkey. He states on the form that he was born in 1838 but his grave stone says 1849 as do most of the census. He himself filled out the form, accept for the bottom which says he was age 55 in 1903? He was the son of Dennis Duvall and his mother's name was Yvon (don't know if it was her first or last name), according to death certificate. He was the husband of Matilda Aubin or sometimes spelled (Obin) and she was the daughter of Peter Aubin and Elizabeth Eminence Gibault of Plattsburgh, NY. He immigrated to the US in 1869 and but another document says immigration was in 1873? He married Matilda in 1874 in Plattsburgh, NY. On the marriage certificate it says his name is Athanase Juval. Greeks go by their middle name, but on more recent census he goes by Dennis. The "J" in Juval is a transcription error and the name should be Duval. They moved to Springfield MA about 1890. They had twelve children: Josephine, Sophia, Evelyn, Helen, Dennis II, Elizabeth , Harold and Corilla were twins, Aspissia and Clara were twins, Lillian, and Ruth.
On several documents Dennis is listed as being Greek, having been born in Gallipolis, Turkey. In 1903 he made a trip to Constantinople, Turkey to visit his parents. In 1880 census he states that both his parents were born in Turkey however, on another census he states his mother was Greek. On his daughter Josephine's death certificate it states her father was from Athens, Greece.
