Governor of Maine. He graduated from Bowdoin College in 1822, became an attorney, and practiced in Worcester, Massachusetts before settling in Augusta, Maine. Vose practiced law in Augusta and served as a Judge Advocate in the Maine Militia. A Democrat, he served in the Maine House of Representatives from 1834 to 1835 and 1838 to 1839. Vose served in the Maine Senate from 1840 to 1841. He was President of the Senate in January, 1841 when Governor John Fairfield resigned with one day left in his term. Vose succeeded to the Governorship and served one day, January 12 to January 13. After the inauguration of Edward Kent, the winner of the 1840 gubernatorial election, Vose returned to his seat in the State Senate and completed his term, afterwards resuming the practice of law in Augusta. From 1848 to 1856 he served as Kennebec County Attorney.
