US Senator. Served as a United States Senator from Michigan from 1951 to 1952. He was defeated as Democratic in 1952, and 1954. Also served as a Delegate to the Democratic National Convention from Michigan in 1952. He died in Ann Arbor, Michigan, on July 20, 1954, while campaigning for the Democratic nomination for United States Senator.
