Helen Murphy Stier, 96, of Camillus, passed away Saturday at home. Born in Syracuse on Thursday, July 22, 1915, she was the daughter of Jeremiah Jerome Murphy and Mary Louise Dwyer Murphy. She had lived in Camillus since 1958. A communicant of St. Joseph's Church, Helen was a member of the Altar and Rosary Society. She also was a member of the guilds at Vincent House, Loretto, Vera House and Francis House. She was a former volunteer with the Oxford Inn, where she assisted with the breakfast program. Helen was predeceased by her husband, Howard, in 1989 and sister, Katherine Murphy, in 1997. Surviving are her children, Paul Stier of Lakeland and Mary Guyder and Patricia MacKinder, both of Camillus; grandchildren, David and Evan; great-grandson, Devin; and two nieces. Relatives and friends may call Monday from 4 to 6 p.m. at Buranich Funeral Home, 5431 W. Genesee St., Camillus. Services will be 10 a.m. Tuesday at the funeral home and 10:30 a.m. in St. Joseph's Church, where a funeral Mass will be celebrated. Helen will be laid to rest in St. Mary's Cemetery, DeWitt. In lieu of flowers, contributions in memory of Helen may be made to the Convent House, 346 West 17th St., New York, NY 10011.
