ALBERT F. CRIPPA
A Mass of Christian burial was celebrated for Albert F. Crippa Saturday, Sept. 9, at the Our Lady of Sorrows Catholic Church with Father Charles Taylor officiating.
Interment was at the St. Joseph's Cemetery and pallbearers were Al Carollo Jr., James Carollo, John Carollo, Robert Flor, John Taylor and John Sulenta.
Crippa, 79, of 713 B St., Rock Springs, died at about 10 a.m. Sunday, Sept. 3, at a hospital in Manhattan, N.Y., where he had been a patient since July 18, 1989.
A resident of New York and longtime resident of Rock Springs, Crippa had been in ill health since July. He was born on Nov. 25, 1909 in Rock Springs, the son of the late August and Carlotta Ziller Crippa. He attended schools in Rock Springs and was a graduate of Rock Springs High School with the class of 1927.
Crippa was a graduate of the University of Michigan with the class of 1932.
Crippa was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II. He was the co-owner and operator of Crippa Motor Company in Rock Springs from 1934 to 1960.
Crippa was a retired tour director for the Marsh Tours and later Cunard Steamship Company, directing tours around the world, Europe and the Caribbean until his retirement.
He was a member of the Our Lady of Sorrows Catholic Church, the BPO Elks Lodge No. 624, the Knights of Columbus and the Sigma Alpha Epsilon fraternity of the University of Michigan.
Survivors include one niece, Mrs. Paul (Velma) Walker Wonnacott of Rock Springs; two great-nieces, Mrs. Max (Tula) Wonnacott Patterson of Spokane, Wash., and Paula Wonnacott of Rock Springs and several cousins.
In addition to his parents, Crippa was preceded in death by one brother, U.S. Sen. Edward (Ted) Crippa and one sister, Josephine Crippa Walker.
