United States Senator. After graduating from the College of William and Mary, he was admitted to the bar and began practicing law in Lexington, Kentucky. He was elected to the United States Senate from Kentucky and served from 1805 to 1809. He was appointed Judge of the United States Circuit Court for the District of Columbia and served from 1810 until his death in 1845.
