Funeral services for Helen Majorie Schwager, 66, of O'Neill were held Saturday, October 1, 1988, at the Christ Lutheran Church. Rev. Jerome Meyer officiated at the 10 a.m. services. Burial was in Chambers cemetery.

Pall bearers were Dale Wood, Jerry O'Malley,Paul Deermer, Raymond Walter, Duane Grossnicklaus, Floyd Lenz. Honorary pallbearers were Bob Hill, Norman DeKay, Irwin LaRue, Marion Woidneck, Carl Schenzel and Stan Holly.

Helen Marjorie Durre Schwager was born August 19, 1922 to Ernest and Esther Durre at Oakdale, NE. She spent her early childhood there until 1929 when her family moved to a farm southeast of Chambers near Goose lake. As a young woman she worked in Norfolk. Helen was united in marriage to Fritz Schwager on May 22, 1949, at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Chambers. To this union a son Gene and a daughter Vicki were born. They made their home on a farm 9 miles east of Chambers. In 1978 Fritz and Helen moved to O'Neill.

Heln was a member of the Better Ways Extension Club. She enoyed playing cards, collecting teapots, crocheting and fishing. Helen will be remembered by all of her friends for her beautiful cake decorating, her love of her grandchildren, and her caring for others.

She passed away September 27, 1988.

She is survived by her husband Fritz, son Gene and his wife Jan of Ewing, daughter Vicki Babl and her husband Curt of Orchard; four grandchildren: Gina and Jessica Schwager and Ryan and Tyler Babl; brothers: Henry Durre of Waco; Floyd Durre of Hastings, Ernest Durre of Chambers, Donald urre of Elm Creek and David Durre of Elgin; sisters: Irene Whiting and Clara Larson of Ewing. Gladys Schwager of Orchard and Ruth Henricksen of Ewing.

She was preceded in death by her parents; Ernest and Esther Durre and her grandson Jeff Schwager.
