Alexander McAlpin,SR : We do not know when nor where he was born but it may have been in the late 1720's in Scotland. We do not know when he came to America but it mat have been following the Battle of Culloden in 1746. We do know that he was in Abbeville Co., South Carolina,with a wife and children by 1763. He served as a captain in the Revolutionary War, from SC. His sons Robert and Solomon also served in the Rev. War. I believe Alexander had three wives but we know the name of only his last wife. Mary Moore Haggard,whom he married in 1776 or 1777. The familly moved to Wilkes county,Ga. during the early 1780's and Alexander died there in 1790.
In his will he named his wife Mary and six sons and six daughters.
In the coming years these children were found living in Clarke,Greene,Morgan,Jackson,Oglethrope,
Putnam,DeKalb Counties in Georgia, as well as other states,Ala.,Tenn.,and Miss.
