U.S. Congressman. He graduated from Gustavus Adolphus College, in 1916 and was principal of Ortonville High School, Minnesota (1916-18). During World War I, he served as a Seaman 2nd Class, in the U.S. Navy (1918-19). After the war, he engaged in the sale of bonds, (1919-25), graduated from the Minnesota College of Law in 1925, was admitted to the bar and commenced to practice law in Minneapolis, Minnesota. In 1939, he was elected as a Republican to the Seventy-sixth and Seventy-seventh Congresses, serving until 1943. An unsuccessful candidate for re-nomination, he resumed the practice of law until his death.
