US Congressman, Boxer. Elected to represent New York's 5th District in the United States House of Representatives, serving from 1867 to 1871. Also served as a Member of the New York State Senate from 1875 until his death in 1878. In 1858 he reigned as the American Heavyweight Boxing Champion.
