U.S. Congressman. He was a one-term United States Representative for Louisiana's 5th congressional district. He attended Baylor University Texas from 1895 to 1901 studying law, was admitted to the bar in 1903 and leaving Texas, commenced to practice law in Farmerville, Louisiana. Entering politics, he became the mayor of Farmerville. He relocated to Monroe, Ouachita Parish, and continued the practice of his profession. He was a member of the Louisiana State Senate from 1908 to 19012. In 1913, he was elected as a Democrat to the Sixty-third Congress, serving until 1915. An unsuccessful candidate for re-nomination, he resumed the practice of law in Farmerville until 1925 before relocating to Ruston, where he died. He was a Mason, Knight of the Order of the Thistle.
