US Congressman. Elected to represent Utah's 1st District in the United States House of Representatives, serving from 1933 to 1941. Also served as a Delegate to the Democratic National Convention from Utah in 1940, and United States Senator from Utah from 1941 to 1947. He was defeated in 1946.
