The former Jennie KNKAID was born at McCook Lake, S.D., on 24 August 1891, to William and Alice E. BROWN KINKAID. She spent her childhood in Sioux City, Iowa. On 14 January 1914, she was married to Guy BLACKFORD at Jackson, Neb. The couple made their home in Salix, Iowa, from 1925 to 1941 at which time they move to Sioux City. In 1950 they moved to Oto, Iowa, and in 1964 to Smithland, Iowa where they lived until entering Pleasant View Nursing Home in 1975. Mr. BLACKFORD preceded her in death on 17 November 1975.
She is survived by 1 son, Loren (Casey) BLACKFORD of Sioux City; 2 daughters, Mrs. Elizabeth ADAMS of Sloan and Mrs. Lois GABRIELLI of Sioux City; 21 grandchildren and 28 great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband; her parents, 1 son, Sidney and 1 daughter, Mrs. Evelyn "Nita" WEIGEL; 2 half sisters, 2 sisters and 2 brothers.
Services were held on Saturday, 2 February 1980 at 2 p.m. at the Wood Funeral Chapel at Sloan with Rev. Raymond Brooks officiating. Mrs. Wilbur Ray, the organist, accompanied Rev. Brooks who sang the selection "What A Friend We Have in Jesus".
Casket bearers were Monte ADAMS, Randy BLACKFORD, Galen MODLIN, Brian WHITE, Joseph HAAG, and Joseph GABRIELLI.
Interment was in Memorial Park Cemetery in Sioux City with arrangements by the Wood Funeral Home, Sloan, Iowa.
