Hugh McAllister entered the army as sergeant in 1776 and was made lieutenant after his service at Valley Forge. He was captured in an expedition against the Indians, and held the rank of major at the close of the war. Thomas Orbison, 1777, commanded a company of York County Associators. He served until peace was declared and died the following year. ; Benjamin Elliott gave militia service and represented Bedford in the convention that framed the State Constitution. ; William Thompson was a member of the Committee of Observation of Cumberland county, and captain of Associators at the battles of Brandywine and Germantown.
