Obituary:
Chico Weekly Chronicle-Record, Saturday, April 26, 1890. pg 1 col 4:
Col. W. L. Perkins Dead.
A telegram from Oroville announces that Col. Wm. L. Perkins died there last Saturday afternoon at the residence of his brother, D.K. Perkins. His lingering illness and expected death have been previously announced in this paper. It has been known for several weeks past that his recovery was regarded as hopeless. It is stated that a few hours before his death, he was remarried to his wife from whom he was divorced about two years ago.
Everybody knew Col. “Bill” Perkins, and everybody liked him. Great as is the popularity of his two brothers, Ex-Governor George O. and the merchant prince, David K., the popularity of Col. Bill was greater. He had no enemies.
