OBITUARY
Matilda Essler
Sauk Centre—Funeral services for Matilda (Mrs. John) Essler, 77 who died Thursday at St. Michael's Hospital, Sauk Centre, will be at 10:30 a.m. Monday at Our Lady of the Angels Catholic Church.
The Rev. Bernard Kahlhammer will officiate. Interment will be in Calvary Cemetery, Sauk Centre.
Friends may call after 3:30 p.m. Sunday at the Schad Funeral Home. Christian Mothers will pray at 7:30 p.m. parish prayers will be 8:30 and the Knights of Columbus will pray at 9.
Matilda Essler was born March 31, 1909, in Mayhew Lake to Anton and Barbara (Decker) Steinhoff. She married Jacob N. "Jake" Essler on June 25, 1928 in Padua. They owned and operated a grocery store and a bar in Padua.
She has been a Sauk Centre resident since 1947. She is a member of Our Lady of the Angels Catholic Church and the Christian Mothers.
Survivors include her husband, a son James, Winthrop; two daughters, Mrs. James (Rose) Reznecheck, Alexandria, and Cleone Essler, Sauk Centre; 10 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren; six sisters, Mrs. Susan Killeen and Mrs. Ida Majerus, St. Cloud; Mrs. Martin (Irene) Schmidt, Pearl Lake; Mrs. George (Veronica) Esler, Concord, Calif.; Mrs. Margaret Gruber, Richmond, Calif.; and Mrs. Al (Lorraine) Spier, Brainerd.
She was preceded in death by an infant daughter, Linda and by three bothers, Sylvester, John and Alphonse Steinhoff.
Pallbearers will be Rodney Essler, Richard and Dean Reznecheck, Lawrence Rousslang, Howard Flowers and Ed Bieringer.
