Longtime Alamosa resident Ruth C. Koch, 104, died January 28, 2011.

Ruth was born June 16, 1906 one of 13 children to Simeon H. and Annie Jensen Dunn. She married her husband of 62 years, William Emil Koch on December 31, 1933. He preceded her in death in 1996.

Ruth worked for many years as a clerk for the District Courts in Alamosa. She also worked at Gordon Stores in Alamosa, the Alamosa National Bank and filled in part-time at the library. In her earlier years she worked on the fall potato harvest and enjoyed gathering wood with her family. Many memorable times were spent with her family at their cabin in the mountains. She was an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and held various callings within the church.

Her hobbies were reading and crocheting. She loved to spend time with her family and looked forward to baking, cooking and preparing for the family reunions and get-togethers. Ruth was a very giving person and on many occasions went out of her way to assist others who needed it.

She is survived by her only daughter Betty Jean (James) Degolyer of La Jara; her sisters and brother: Doris (Verden) Mortenson, Hazel Nite and Rex S. (Nancy) Dunn; her grandchildren: Janet (Jon) Wells, Kris (Jacki) Degolyer, Leslie (Kevin) Stocking, and Eric (Tami) Degolyer; as well as 18 great-grandchildren and four great-great grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews and extended family members.

Her parents, her husband, her brothers and sisters: Francis Gillespie, Elma Pagett, Lloyd Dunn, Edgar Dunn, Ina Olsen, Ethel Forsyth, Cora Bingham, infant brothers Keith and Willard; her grandson Kerry Degolyer and great-granddaughter Alexi Degolyer all preceded her in death.

A visitation will be held from 5-7 p.m. Tuesday, February 1, 2011 at the Rogers Family Mortuary in Alamosa and from 10-10:45 a.m. Wednesday, February 2nd in the Relief Society Room of the La Jara Second Ward Chapel of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints prior to the services at 11 a.m. Interment will follow services in the Manassa Cemetery.
