A D's parents are Alva Fred Stroope and Dessie Edna Millsapps. His known siblings are Alta Jean, Anna Maxine, Leatrice Joy and Dennis Ray Stroope.

He married Brana Lou Meredith., March 16, 1950 in Garland County, Arkansas.

He began his career in the tire business at eighteen years of age for Firestone where he worked his way up to manager. He left Firestone to start Stroope Tire where he worked diligently for forty-two years. He served his community faithfully and was a charter member of Hot Springs Baptist Church where he served as a head usher and deacon. He will be most remembered as a loving husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather.

He is preceded in death by his parents, sister Maxine Keith, and one son-in-law Mark Johnson. He is survived by his wife of 60 years; son – Donald Ray Stroope (Tamara); daughter – Beverly Johnson; and brother – Dennis Ray (Anna) Stroope all of Hot Springs; sisters Allene Baldwin (Bill) of Benton and Joy Hill (Clarence) of Hot Springs; grandchildren Bridget Schmidt (Paul, Jr.), Dr. Brittany Stroope, Brooke Stroope, Brandon Stroope and their mother Betty Stroope; Chad Johnson (Jennifer), Rachel Wages (Aaron), Nicholas and Zachary Henderson, great grandchildren Carston Johnson and Presley Schmidt; many sister-in-laws and brother-in-laws, and many nieces and nephews.
