Mrs. Annette Culmer Dies
Member of Pioneer Family Becomes Victim of Pneumonia
Salt Lake City, Nov. 22 - (AP) - Mrs. Annette Wells Culmer, 71, widow of H. L. A. Culmer, artist and Utah business man, died at the family home here yesterday. She had been ill of pneumonia.
Mrs. Culmer was born in Salt Lake November 28, 1857, the daughter of Daniel H. and Susan Alley Walls, and lived here all her life. She was among the first members of the old Wasatch Literary society, a charter member of the Cleofan club, a Red Cross worker during the Spanish-American and the world wars, and a teacher in the Relief society of the Eighteenth L. D. S. ward for many years.
Surviving are four children, Mrs. Frank Taft Roberts of Los Angeles, H. Wells Culmer of Salt Lake, Mrs. David J. Varnes of Howe, Ind., and Kenneth A. Culmer of Albany, a suburb of San Francisco; eight grandchildren, and the following brothers and sisters: Charles A., Stephen A., Junius F., Rulon S., Heber M., Louis R., Gershom B., Melvin D. and General Giant H. Wells; Frances, Emeline and Lyde Wells, Mrs. Abbie Chapin, Mrs. Orson F. Whitney, Mrs. John G. Cannon, Mrs. Clara W. Hedges and Mrs. Edna W. Sloan.
