ALAMOSA - Alamosa resident Jane M. Walstrom, 88, passed away at the San Luis Valley Regional Medical Center in Alamosa on November 17, 2010.

Jane was born September 2, 1922 to Jesse J. and Nellie Macy Schecter in Alamosa, Colorado.

She married Eugene C. Walstrom in 1942 in Taos, New Mexico. Jane loved to paint and was an avid reader. She worked as a receptionist at the Alamosa Community Hospital for 25 years, and was a member of the Daughter's of the American Revolution. Jane also assisted S.P. Lorraine with community service and potluck lunches at the Alamosa Housing Authority.

She is survived by her two children, Thomas (Diane) Walstrom of Summerville, South Carolina and Peggy (Louie) Luster of Alamosa, Colorado, as well as six grandchildren and seventeen great-grandchildren.

Jane is preceded in death by her parents, her husband, step-sister Madge Charles, and step-brothers Bruce, Jay and Oscar Schecter.

Cremation was chosen and a Vigil Service with Recitation of the Rosary will be held 7:00 P.M. on Sunday, November 21, 2010 at the Sacred Heart Catholic Church. A Funeral Mass will be held at 1:00 P.M. on Monday, November 22, 2010 at the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Alamosa. Following services inurnment will be held at the Alamosa Cemetery. Contributions are suggested to the Sacred Heart Church for the Youth.
