Capt. George RoBards, born in Goochland county, Virginia, August 5, 1760. Died testate, July 13, 1833, on his farm in Mercer county, Kentucky, aged 73 years. Married Elizabeth Barbara Sampson in 1786.

Capt. George RoBards, born August 5, 1760, died testate, July 13, 1833, ages 73 years. He enlisted in his sixteenth year in the Fourteenth Virginia Regiment, Continental Line. He was, in his nineteenth year, commissioned by Governor Thomas Jefferson, lieutenant in the Fourth Virginia Regiment, State Line. Was in the battle of Camden. His brother, William, by his side, was severely wounded. He was commissioned captain in 1781 and served until the close of the war. — By John L. RoBards of Hannibal, Missouri.
