Capt. Butler being a son of Governor Pierce M. Butler of South Carolina. The renowned Colonel of the famous Palmetto Regiment, who added luster and greatness to the name, by the heroism he displayed upon the battlefields of Mexico. He fell
mortally wounded in the battle of Cherubusco Aug. 20, 1847. Gov. Pierce M. Butlers son Major Loudon Butler of the 19 Louisiana was killed in the
Civil War.
Capt. Andrew Picks Butler married Oct. 2, 1862 at Edgefield South Carolina Miss Maria Burt the sweetheart of his life. he received the appointment of Aide De Camp to General John Dunovant of South Carolina with the rank of
