According to his death certificate (Gentry Co., #4862; Amos B. CROY, informant; MO State Archives), Dexter was born in OH, the son of William CROY and [Statia} Anna JOY. [He was married to Melissa Margaret TIBBLES. The couple had lived in Maryville, Nodaway Co., and have several children buried there.]
