William Franklin "Bill" Moos, 85, of Lincoln, died Sunday, July 4, 2010, at 7:10 p.m. at Maple Ridge Care Centre in Lincoln.

Visitation will be 4-7 p.m. Wednesday at Peasley Funeral Home in Lincoln. Prior to the visitation there will be a rosary service at 3:45.

A Mass of Christian burial will be at 10 a.m. Thursday at Holy Family Catholic Church, with the Rev. Jeffrey G. Laible officiating.

Burial will be in Holy Cross Cemetery. Military rites will be conducted by American Legion Post 263 of Lincoln.

Mr. Moos retired from the U.S. Postal Service after 30 years.

He was in the U.S. Navy from 1943 until 1946, serving on the USS YMS-265 minesweeper ship in the South Pacific.

He was born Oct. 28, 1924, in Lincoln. His parents were Emil Sr. and Maria Ananias. He married Ruth Irene Watson on Oct. 30, 1946. She preceded him in death on Nov. 14, 2001.

He is survived by his children, William A. Moos of Springfield and Daniel (and Rosie) Moos, Tim Moos, Jerry Moos, Kay Moos and Patrick Moos (and Denise Watt) all of Lincoln; one brother, Thomas Moos of Springfield; one sister, Mary Ann Schonauer of Lincoln; 11 grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by one brother, Emil Moos Jr., and two sisters, Nellie Mae Koester and Norma Shanle.

He was a member of Holy Family Church, Knights of Columbus Council 1250 and American Legion Post 263.

He graduated from Lincoln High School in 1942.

Memorials may be made to Carroll Catholic School or the Humane Society of Logan County.
