RALPH BARLETT
MUSCATINE, Iowa, Ralph E. Barlett, 66, of 13301 322 Street West, Muscatine (Drury Township, Illinois), died December 12, 2001, at the Genesis East Hospital in Davenport.

Graveside services will be 11 a.m. Saturday at the Illinois City Cemetery. The Reverend Paul Dinges of the Illinois City United Methodist Church will officiate. Pallbearers will be Bryan Barlett, Bob Koepping, Clay Welsch, Kevin Chard, Kenny Chard, and Keith Chard.

Visitation will be from 9:30 until 11 a.m. Saturday at the Ralph J. Wittich-Riley-Freers Funeral Home. Memorials may be made to the Kidney Foundation, the Ronald McDonald House of Iowa City or the Bryer Barlett Education Fund.

Mr. Barlett was born on December 17, 1934, in Mercer County, the son of Ralph and Sarah Johnson Barlett. He married Dorothy Welsch on February 23, 1963, at the Pine Bluff Church of Drury Township, Illinois.

He farmed in Rock Island County his entire life raising Bershire hogs, dorset sheep and angus cattle. Previously he worked for Lee Osborn Construction. He had been a 4-H leader and he was an avid International toy collector.

He had been on kidney dialysis for nine and one-half years. He lived for his grandson, Bryer.

He is survived by his wife, Dorothy Barlett, of Drury Township; one son, Bryan Barlett and his fiancé, Ann, also of Drury Township, Illinois; one grandson, Bryer Neal Barlett; one sister, Ruth Chard of Muscatine; one aunt, seven nephews, four nieces; four great-nephews; two great-nieces; and several cousins.

He was preceded in death by his parents.
