Son of Elizabeth Braley and Lemuel James. He lived in Louisville at time of his death and occupation had been Deputy Collector with the IRS. His wife, Mary C. James survived him.

Services for Edgar James, father of Ollie James, assistant managing editor of the Enquirer will be held Saturday in Louisville Ky. Mr. James, who was a brother of the late Sen. Ollie James, died Thursday at his home Louisville of a heart attack. He was 77.


Active in Democratic politics in Kentucky for many years, Mr. James was appointed marshal by President Woodrow Wilson. Later he was a Democratic candidate for lieutenant governor. As deputy collector of internal revenue, he served seven years retiring last December after 2 years in federal service.


A native of Crittenden County, Ky. Mr. James had lived in Louisville for 29 years. He was a graduate of the Marion Academy and a member of the Knights of Pythias.


He leaves in addition to his son, his widow, Mrs. Mary James; two daughters, Misses Lemah and Virginia James, and a sister, Mrs. Ruby Gordon of Madisonville, Kentucky.
