Louisville, KY pharmacist. Was one of the best know druggists in Central Kentucky,and on of the most popular citizens of Paris. He was a starch member of the Methodist Church and also of Coeur de Lion Commandery No 26, Knights Templar. But perhaps no cause was dearer to his heart than the Confederate Veterans, no gathering of old comrades would be complete without him. He belonged to the Orphan Brigade and was a member of the 6th KY Infantry under his brother Lt Colonel William Clarke. (Excerpts from The Hearld, newspaper 1914)
