Burwin E. "Swat" Erickson, 79, of 3288 Matson Road, died Saturday (Jan. 20, 2001) in Roswell Cancer Institute,Buffalo. He was born Nov. 11, 1921, in Bemus Point, the son of Eric ''Swat'' and Alma Bergquist Erickson. He was a veteran of World War II serving in the U.S. Army Air Corp from 1942 to 1946 in the signal corps.

Hall of Fame's Four Newest Members Honored

LAKEWOOD – The four newest members of the Chautauqua Sports Hall of Fame were honored Monday night at the annual induction dinner at the Red Coach Inn. The new inductees are Jamestown's Sheridan Hardenburg, Silver Creek's George Carter, Dunkirk's Murray Shelton, and the late Eric "Swat" Erickson of Jamestown.


Burwin E. Erickson, better known as "Swat" Erickson, Jr., accepted the hall of fame plaque for his father who pitched for New York Giants and Detroit Tigers in the major leagues.
