Frances Marion Wolford was born in Lancaster, KY. Nov. 20, 1864. She was the granddaughter of Robert McAfee Bradley, a pioneer lawyer of that state, and niece of William O'Connell Bradley who was later governor and U.S. States Senator form Ky.

Her father for whom she was named was killed during the War Between the States as he, a cavalry captain dismounted to aid one of his men who had been mortally wounded, hence her grandfather and uncle had great influence in her young life.

When she was about ten years of age, her mother re-married Dr. Nelson MAYS who became a second father to her.

She was married to Willis Lucas Wayts at Lancaster, KY. in the Christian Church Sept. 10, 1890. Her wedding notice carried this: "She has great musical talent, and was the
favorite musician of Lancaster". A deep lover of literature, she often had poems published in various Kentucky papers and at one time was a regular contributor to Southern Baptist Sunday school periodicals.

She died on Feb. 27, 1941 and was laid to rest with her husband in Arlington National Cemetery.

This information was taken from a paper composed by her daughter Josephine Nelson Wayts Howdershell.
