Isabelle "Jerry" Miller, 82, of Temple Terrace, Fla., formerly of Sioux City, died Friday, March 2, 2001, of heart failure at St. Joseph's Baptist Hospital in Temple Terrace.

Services will be 10 a.m. Wednesday at Corpus Christi Catholic Ch-urch in Temple Terrace. Graveside service will be Thursday, March 15, in Arlington National Cemetery, Arlington, Va. Arrangements are under the direction of Prevatt Funeral Home in Temple Terrace.

Mrs. Miller was born May 7, 1918, in Windber, Penn. While attending high school, she studied dance from Gene Kelly. She received a bachelor of arts degree from College of Wooster in Wooster, Ohio, in 1940, where she was also the captain of the tennis team. She received her master's degree in early childhood education from Columbia University Teachers College in 1941. She did student teaching at Horace Mann School in New York City.

She married Jack R. Miller in August 1942, in Washington, D.C. Following World War II, they moved to South Bend, Ind., and then to Sioux City. In 1960, when he was elected to the United States Senate, the family moved to Bethesda, Md. He ran for re-election in 1966 and 1972, and in 1973 was appointed to the U.S. Court of Appeals. She actively campaigned with him throughout his political career. The couple remained in the Washington, D.C., area until moving to Temple Terrace in the late 1980s. Her husband died in August 1994.

She was active in Congressional Club and several charitable activities, including the Red Cross. She was a member of Congressional Country Club and Little Flower Church. She was active in Civitan and taught CCD classes at Corpus Christi Catholic Church.

Survivors include four children, Janice Amott of Park Hills, Ky., Judy Flynn of Temple Terrace, James Forrest Miller of Alexandria, Va., and Jaynie Studenmund of La Canada, Calif.; 11 grandchildren; and a great-grandson.
