SUMMIT - Funeral services will be held here Friday for Howard H. Edge, a prominent industrial engineer and brother of the late Gov. Walter P. Edge.
His brother, who died in 1956, was governor of New Jersey from 1917-1919 and from 1944-1947.
Edge died yesterday in Overlook Hospital. He was 95.
A native of Tyrone, Pa., he was an engineer for 65 years. He made important design contributions to weapons used in both world wars.
During World Ware I, he served as a design critic and production adviser for the Navy. He produced special submarine detectors and range finders for troop ships.
Edge joined the American Type Founders Co., Elizabeth, in 1924, where he remained for 16 years. He later became cost reduction engineer and consultant with the international Business Machine Co., Endicott, N. Y. He retired in 1939.
Edge came out of retirement in 1943 to rejoin American Type Founders as a consultant, aiding in the manufacture of weapons in Worl War II. He stayed on with the company until retiring permantly in 1957.
