Died- On May 3, at an advanced age, Mrs. Sarah Nivison, relict of the late Col. John Nivison, of Norfolk. (p. 3, c. 1)

Enquirer Friday, May 07, 1830 Richmond, VA

Died yesterday afternoon, after 5 o’clock, at an advanced age, after a protracted illness, Mrs. Sarah Nivison, relict of the late Col. John Nivison, of this Borough. This venerable lady was generally and justly esteemed in this community. She had fulfilled the duties of wife, mother, mistress and friend, with exemplary fidelity, mingling in their discharge the most affectionate solicitude and tenderness, for all who were the objects of her care, and the utmost kindness and humanity to those who became the participants of her benevolence. She took a lively interest in the happiness and comfort of all around her, and by dispensing with a liberal hand to those whom Providence had been less bountiful, she contributed largely to the end. As a neighbor, none could better fulfil the Divine injunction.
