In this village, Sept. 20th, at the residence of her son, Dr. N. Harris, Mrs. Sarah Douglass, aged 74 years. Mrs. D. was one of the first settlers of this place. Her second husband was the grandfather of Hon. Stephen A. Douglas, U.S. Senator from Illinois, who was, in his earlier years, under her maternal care. He has ever cherished a kind remembrance of her, and was in constant correspondence with her until the day of her death.
