US Congressman. He was admitted to the bar in 1888 and commenced the practice of law at Beaver Dam, Wisconsin. From 1891 to 1893 he was a member of the State Assembly, served in the State Senate 1895 to 1899 and city attorney of Beaver Dam, 1893 to 1908. In 1911, he was elected as a Democrat to the Sixty-second Congress and to the next two succeeding Congresses, serving until 1917.
