Sarah was the First Lady of Nevada, she was married to Nevada's first Governor Henry Goode Blasdel. Nevada became the 36th state on October 31, 1964. She was in office with her husband from 1864 to 1871. She was a native of Kentucky, married Henry on December 9, 1845 at the age of 18 and accompanied her him to Virginia City, NV in 1861. They had three children, Sherrill Weaver Blasdel (1849-1935), Henry Goode Blasdel (1857-1915), and Lillian M. Blasdel-Bernard (1863-1924). As the first lady her "temperance" views were observed at all social functions. The Blasdel family moved to California in 1891. Mrs. Blasdel died in Fruitvale (Oakland) on October 31, 1904.
