R S Lucas was the founder of the city of Pierce, NE, and Pierce County, NE. He was the son of Robert E Lucas and Friendly Sumner.

Robert had another daughter, Virginia Sumner Lucas, born in 1865 (See 1870 US Census). Virginia was an artist who traveled to New York and Paris to study. She later settled in Honolulu, Hawaii Territory and Alameda County, California. She married Henry De Clifford Couzens who died of tuberculosis in 1914 (FAG #142826865). They had one son, Harry.
