VIRGIL E REAMES
Former Resident Was on the Star's Advertising Staff.
Virgil E. Reames, 54 years old, a former Kansas Citian, died yesterday in San Rafael, Calif., after a long illness, family members were informed.
A native of Kansas City, Mr. Reames lived here more than forty years. He was graduated from the Westport high school, and attended the University of Kansas, Lawrence, three years. After leaving K.U., he joined the advertising staff of The Star, and worked with local advertising accounts for more than twenty years.
When he left Kansas City, he continued his advertising work in Denver, Colo. He served in the army during World War II as a lieutenant colonel. When he resumed his career work, it was with the San Francisco Chamber of Commerce as controller, until ill health forced him to retire in 1945. He was a Mason.
Mr. Reames leaves his wife, Mrs. Edith Gardner Reames of the home; two sons, Stanley Reames, San Francisco, and Allen Reames, with the army in Germany, and a brother, Gardner Reames, 39 Winthrope road.
Funeral services will be held Saturday afternoon at San Rafael.
