Obituary - The Richmond Climax - Wed 14 June 1899

MRS MATTIE M BRONSTON wife of Col Thos C Bronston died Friday last after several years of failing health. Funeral services were conducted at the house by Rev J K Smith followed by burial in the Richmond cemetery. Deceased was about 60 years old and the only daughter of Bennett McCreary. She was also the sister of Ex-Gov Jas B McCreary who is now the sole survivor of that will known family. He was devoted to his sister never failing to spend his Sundays with her except when in Congress or out of the city. They were the only children of their parents and were fond of each others society. Mrs Bronston was a consist attendant upon church and a devoted Bible student and though never a member of any church she confessed under Rev. Geo O Barnes. She was a lady of such gentle and refined nature kindly disposition modest and retiring that she was beloved by all."
