Miki Hansen passed away on Friday, March 13, 2009 in Salt Lake City of causes incident to age. She resided at 8 East Hillside Avenue (240 North) in the Capitol Hill neighborhood of Salt Lake City, Utah at the time of her death.


She was born March 16, 1918 in Salt Lake City, daughter of United States Senator Elbert Duncan and Edna Harker Thomas.


She graduated from the University of Utah in 1939. She married Lawrence Lee Hansen in the Salt Lake LDS Temple. She was an active member of the LDS Church all her life, and had served over 30 years in the Primary.


She enjoyed working at the Deseret Gym and swam daily well into her 80's, was a proud, active member of the Democratic Party, DUP member, and especially enjoyed her loyal friends. Her great loves were her two sisters, Chiyo Telford and Esther Grover, and her children and their children and extended family.


She is survived by her children, Thomas Lee (Bonnie) Hansen, San Ramon, CA, Phillip Louis (Barbara) Hansen, Sandy, UT, Forrest Brian Hansen (Sandy Woodard) , Reno, NV., Paul Roland Hansen, Salt Lake City; Christine Hansen (Randy) Thurber, Salt Lake City, Lawrence Rhodes (Lynne, PHD) Hansen, Gunnison, CO, Chiyo Charlene Hansen, Las Vegas, NV. Also by son in law, Richard Sherlock, PHD, of Logan, UT, 18 grandchildren and 27 great-grand children. Miki was preceded in death by her husband and one daughter, Margaret Louise "Peggy" Sherlock. It was her sensitivity and keen sense of service to the down-trodden that made her the elect lady that we all love.


Funeral Services will be held on Friday, March 20, 2009 at 12 Noon in the Salt Lake Stake Center, 142 West 200 North. Friends may call at the Larkin Mortuary, 260 East South Temple Street, on Thursday from 6-8 p.m. and on Friday at the Church from 10:30-11:45 a.m.
Interment will be in the Salt Lake City Cemetery.
