Obituary: J.H.Browning Dies At Milan; Rites Incomplete MILAN, Tenn., July 15 James II. Browning, 90. father of Governor Gordon Browning .died here at 12:45 o'clock this afternoon. Mr. Browning had suffered a heart attack some weeks ago.
Arrangements for the funeral services were incomplete at press time. Mr. Browning died unexpectedly at the home of his daughter. Mrs. W. S. Fields and Postmaster Fields, with whom he had lived since the death of his wife in 1940. Besides Governor Browning and Mrs. Fields, survivors include a son. Will Browning of Conway, Ark.; a brother. John Browning of Milan: two sisters. Mrs. Anne Mul-lins of Paduch. Ky., and Mrs. Lizzie DeShong of Humboldt: and 10 grandchildren and nine great grand children.
Born in Carroll County near At-wood, Mr. Browning lived there until near the turn of the century when be moved to his farm three miles east of Milan. He was married to the former Melissa Brooks, who died January 24. 1940.
The Browning estate was Included in lands purchased by the U. S. government for the establishment of the Wolf Creek Ordnance Plant in 1941. A prosperous farmer until his retirement some years ago. Mr. Browning had served as magistrate of the 13th Civil District of Gibson County. He was an active member of the Milan First Methodist Church.
