RITES FOR EMIL MILBERG SET THIS AFTERNOON
Funeral services for Emil Milberg, 81, pioneer farmer and rancher of the Newell area who passed away at the Dorsett Memorial Home in Spearfish Monday morning, will be conducted this Thursday afternoon from the Lutheran Church.
Rev. K. A. Knutson will conduct the services at 2:00 p.m. and burial will be in the Wilson Cemetery south of Newell under direction of the Anderson-Stingley Funeral Chapel of Sturgis.
Emil Milberg was born at Ishpeming, Michigan, October 20, 1875 and came to Terraville in the Black Hills with his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Charles Milberg, when he was nine years old. The family moved in 1885 to a homestead on Horse Creek, now occupied by his oldest son, Ralph. He was married to Anne M. Wilson on December 30, 1902 and the couple lived for a number of years on a farm west of Horse Creek, where he was engaged in the stock raising business with George Maass.
The couple homesteaded on Dry Creek and in 1910 moved to their present ranch southwest of Newell. Mrs. Milberg preceded her husband in death in May, 1955.
Survivors include four sons, Ralph, Elmer, Walter and Clarence; a sister, Mrs. Hannah Wilson and a brother, Oscar, all of Newell; nine grandchildren and three great grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be James Glover, Leonard, Russell and Howard Wilson, all of Newell, Raymond Glover of Rapid City and Hans Brekenfeld of Belle Fourche.
