James P. Mahon, 41 was stricken suddenly at his home 77 Main Street Rogers, Sunday, March 13 and passed away shortly after. He was born in Grosvenordale, June 23, 1913, the son of John and Josephine (Tercyak) Mahon.
Mr. Mahon is survived by his wife Alice (Gebo) Mahon; six children, Richard serving with the U.S. Air Force, David, Daniel, James, Edmund and Shirley, all of Rodgers, one brother, Edmund, of Grosvenordale, two sisters, Mrs. Victoria Dalip of Grosvenordale, and Mrs. Celia Gallien of Oxford, Mass.
Funeral services were held Wednesday at 8:00 am from Gagnon funeral home, followed by a requiem mass at St. Ignatius church in Rodgers at 9:00, the Rev. Paul Anclair celebrant. Wesley Desilets, organist and soloist, sang "Pie Jesu" at the offertory, and "Angels of Mercy" as the waiting hymn. The recessional was Chopin's Funeral March.
Burial was in the family plot in Holy Cross cemetery, with the Rev. F.W. Lavin, M.S. offering the committal prayers. Bearers were Miram Skinner, John Stevens, Gerald Gebo, Gerry Donahue, Joseph Silva and Anthony Vigue.
